Hi loves!! I have a quick post today. I didn't want to neglect the blog this week. This time of year is super busy for me but I still want to commit to my blog. I don't have a lot of subscribers but I really enjoy sharing my nails and nail art via a blog. Yes Instagram is instant but sometimes I just feel like posting.

A few weeks ago I went to Sephora just to get the Formula X polish remover in the huge jar and picked up a few polishes. Well $138 dollars later I have 6 polishes and the remover jar!

Thrilling stood out to me because of its nudish pink shade. I'm not sure why I keep gravitating to nudes but I just love them. Here I'm wearing two coats and I used a cheap white polish for the accent nails.

These polishes are super opaque. Honestly one coat is great especially for designs and having that one coat as a base.

If you haven't already check out the pretty polishes from Formula X!

I received some nail mail last week from KB Shimmer which I mentioned in a previous post. I also received STARK RAVEN MAD by KB Shimmer and it's a beauty!

Here is one coat and as you can see the opacity is great!

The second coat is even more gorgeous! Can you say opaque. Here is two coats.

I wasn't sure if I had a holo black, so I had to get this one! It is such a gorgeous holo black! As you can see one coat is opaque enough to wear by itself. But two seals the deal on this pretty holo black polish. As you can see in the main picture I added some flowers(supposed to be tulips). Lol. But I thought flowers would look great against a black background .

I've been super busy with work lately I haven't had a chance to post. So many weddings and proms! No complaints at all because I was able to purchase some new nail goodies.

KB Shimmer came out with a new summer collection last week. The colors looked so pretty. When I went to order they were sold out so I just picked out a few polishes but checked again the next day and was able to get a few from the new collection. After looking at the swatches on the site some polishes looked like dupes to polishes I already I own.....as usual! Lol . So in the coming days I will have more swatches of other polishes I bought from the collection and others on the site.

Here are swatches of this pretty holo reddish pinky polish!

I've had this polish for a while now as most polishes in my collection. But I'm in the process of trying to organize this nail hoarding I got going on and in the process came across this beauty.

This polish appears to be a crelly formula. It applies well with no streaking. Not even on the first coat. It makes for a great nude manicure. It's a pinky, orange, coral color with loads of shine!

As you can see both swatches are very opaque! I have one more bottle to swatch. That will be up tomorrow ! Look forward to more swatches by this brand. I shall be heading back to Rite Aid for more. Also if there isn't a Rite Aid near you , try checking out their website: www.bonitacolors.com or their Instagram :bonitacolors.

As usual I find out about new polish brands and polishes via Instagram. I kept seeing post about this polish brand called Bonita. I'd never heard of it before.

I did see one post where it was available at Rite Aid. The swatches looked so opaque and creamy! I couldn't wait to get my hands on a few. I stopped through Rite Aid the other day and there they were. I only saw I assume the newest shades. I wanted them all but some looked like dupes I already own in other polishes. I figured I'd start with two or three and test them out before returning to buy more.

I really like them so far. The first coat is rather thin and slightly streaky but a second coat smooths everything out.

1 coat

2 coats no top coat

As you can see in the pic. With no top coat they have a shine. I can't wait to try out the other polishes in this line.

I have a quick review today of OPI's Push and Shove.

I've had this polish for a while now and hadn't used it. I heard good and bad reviews of this polish but wanted to make my own assumption.

I have swatches below but I will say before hand that a base polish came with the polish but I didn't think to use it till after I realized it didn't work well with my base coat which is OPI nail envy.

1 coat no base coat

2 coats no base coat

2 coats with top coat

I was basically swatching for my blog. Usually when swatching for blog purposes I never use base coat. So I couldn't figure out what everyone was complaining about it being streaky. I decided I liked the finish and I'd skip top coat and wear them as my mani for today. Well here's what happened after applying OPI nail envy mixed with essie grow stronger base coat:

1 coat over nail envy which I have essie grow stronger mixed in.

2 coats and it seems to level out some.

2 coats and some clean up! Lol

My final conclusion on this polish is if I were to use it again I'd still use my base coats but add the base coat that came with it as a second base coat.

I own a similar shade by Essie. I can't think of the name off hand but I think this has more shine and a more mirror like affect than the Essie. But all in all, I Iove it and it is my manicure for today. I didn't put any top coat on but I think I will wear it for a few days until I return to work where my hands will be in water. Ugh!

I have backed up swatches I will be posting this week. It's been a busy few weeks. As a full time hair stylist and freelance makeup artist I've been swamped with weddings, proms and new clients! I'm not complaining at all as I enjoy what I do. I have a few days off so I will try and get a week or two worth of post in.

Thanks for reading!

For several weeks I've been meaning to do this post on my new favorite Top coat.

I will start with saying that not only in this post but any post that I do a review that the thoughts, review and comments are my own. As of to date I have never been compensated for my reviews or thoughts on any product. These are my actual feelings and thoughts towards any product I use. As a huge consumer of beauty products I really don't know any other way than being honest when it comes to purchasing of beauty products. If I like it I will rave about it, if I don't like a product I'm pretty secure with stating I dislike a product, my problem with the product or any issues I have. The same goes with any customer service or service I receive that is beauty related.

Now on to my new favorite top coat!

So when I first decided to start nail blogging and really paid attention to the nail community on Instagram. I saw so many independent Indie and nail brands. All of this was new to me as I had always bought from local beauty supplies and drugstores for polish. Besides eBay and Amazon of course.

I kept seeing all the nail bloggers and enthusiast show pictures of Glisten and Glow H K Girl Top coat. As I stated earlier I will be honest. I thought to myself why would I order top coat? So I checked out the website and saw it was a few dollars more than my Seche Vite. So really why would I wait for top coat to come when I could just go to Ulta, Wal Mart or Cosmo Prof.

Well as I'm searching Instagram one day a site called Color4nails(not sure of the correct spelling) showed some Indie polishes that they sold. They sold a variety of different brands, including Glisten and Glow. I believe I did a post of my haul. I ordered the top coat and couldn't wait to see if the hype was real!

Upon receiving my order I immediately went to polish my nails with my new purchases and added the top coat. Well let me back up just a wee bit. When I received my order it was winter and we had a few snow storms. Also one of the other Indie brands I ordered the bottle was cracked. I transferred it and no biggie. As I applied the top coat I waited the amount of time I usually do with my Seche Vite and the top coat was still wet. So I thought maybe it was the other Indie brand I applied under the top coat(it was a holo polish). So I tested it on a nail wheel with a regular polish and the same thing happened. So then I did one of my nails and once again the same thing happened. So I then shook the bottle and again same thing. I touched my nail wheel where I had applied the top coat which by this point had been at least 20 minutes, still wet! I said to myself..."Something has to be wrong"!

Needless to say I decided I'd go back to my Seche Vite and just use the Glisten and Glow on swatches and test nails on my nail wheels. I didn't want to throw it away, I didn't want to complain about the product because I had other issues with the company I purchased it from and that week was not a good week for me with my online purchases. I didn't want to come off as a new complainer. Plus I didn't order it from the actual website.

As weeks went on and I'd pick the bottle up from time to time to use to finish a swatch or test nail, I'd maybe touch the nail by accident or hit it and realized there was no damage done to my nails. So one day I used it to finish my nails and touched like literally less than a minute later it was dry! I mean completely dry! No smudging, moving or finger prints! I was amazed! It worked! It worked!

So I thought why it may not have worked in the beginning when I first bought it. I realized the weather may have played a part. As you can see I've since ordered more and I now just let it get room temperature before using.

I apologize for the long post but I wanted to share my true experience with this product and also just sing the praises of how such a wonderful product it is.

I've read other reviews were they've stated that it doesn't work well over glitter polish. I find that I can use maybe two coats and it works fine. I still have an issue with the holo polish that I ordered, but my other holos it works well with. The shine that it gives the nails are impeccable! It puts Seche Vite to shame. In my opinion it dries faster than Seche Vite. No shrinking of your polish and really helps with getting your polish to last. I usually do my nails 3-4 days a week but some weeks I can't do them as often and this top coat has really helped my nail polish as far as less chipping and maybe getting an extra day or two out of them.

Here are a few of my favorite pics where I used the Glisten and Glow and you can see the super shine!

I will start by stating the obvious....my new nubs. I mentioned I had to cut them down in another post but since have chipped two nubs on two different hands! So this was the better looking hand of the two. I can't stress how frustrating this has become. Anywho.....on to my new favorite Indie brand polish!

I had seen so many Instagram post on the Indie brand Polish My Life. Everyone spoke of how opaque the polishes were and they were cream polishes.

Polish My Life came out with a collection called " A Time to Chill" . All the polishes were some of my favorite colors, mainly pastels. When I went to order 2 out of 4 in the collection was sold out. I managed to get two and later saw the ole tigon became available again. One in the collection was a pretty pastel pink, but being I have several of those I skipped it and purchased this beauty here called " Muscat Martini" along with two others which I will have swatches coming soon.

I have nothing bad to say about this Indie brand! Nothing at all! The people who mentioned how creamy and opaque they are we're spot on! I have a few pastel purples in my collection but this is my absolute favorite! It's a lilac purple with some baby blue and I have been searching for this exact pastel purple for some time. Well I'm excited to say I found it!

Polish My life is and has done an excellent job on giving us nail enthusiast and nail hoarders a quality product to add to our collections.

Before I continue to ramble on the Oh so goodness of this brand here are swatches .

As you can see I had to do a major chop on my nails. I had two breaks on my left hand and one on my right. I had patched all three up but somehow my patch had failed me on my right which is my hand I like to photograph.

Needless to say I decided to chop them all off once again. I really like my nails at a nice length for nail art. But being they are nubins now u still needed some GLAM! I call this length the "Celebrity" length. Most celebs don't wear stiletto nails or very long nails. If they do you will notice its for album covers, photo shoots or promotional reasons. But normally when on the red carpet they tend to wear them short.

So with my new "Celebrity" length I decided to give them a celeb glam look. Ok I just made that up. But I'm sure you get what I'm saying.

I had foils I had purchased a while ago and decided to use them. Foils are a quick and easy mani make over which doesn't require a lot of time. Pictured above I have a cheap top coat in my hand but wanted to take a pic before adding the top coat. I saw where quick drying top coat would make them appear cracked and would shrivel up. After using the cheaper top coat they dulled down and was very little cracking. I redid some and decided not to add top coat so they would stay shiney.

This is a perfect quick mani if you have a dinner date or a night out on the town but you would like for your nails to make a statement.

The nail foils come in different colors and are usually on a roll. Some come up to 6ft. You may also find them in small sheets as well.

Here is a pic(not the best quality) of them with top coat.

Depending on the look you're going for, top coat may work for you. I like them best with out top coat. If you choose to go with out too coat the glue stays tack for a while so I would advise not touching anything, especially anything with loose fibers or cloth.

If you haven't given nail foils a try, please do. You will love the look they give your nails! Especially nubins like mine! Lol

Here is a picture of a design I did last week. I used My Vampire is Buff by OPI as a base and acrylic paint for the designs . Also I used some gold chains I picked up from Michaels craft store.

Here is a swatch of Finger Paints Degas Look At This. This is one thin coat.

I'm so surprised at how this polish swatched. It is a mirrored polish that still looks great with top coat.

It looks great by itself but makes a great base for designs. I will add a pic of a mani I did with a chevron design over top this pretty color.

I used China Glaze Pool Party and The grass is Lime Greener and a lilac purple from Rimmel London with a sponge as a gradient effect.

I was able to get a few of China Glaze's spring collection. Over the next few days I will have swatches of the colors that I picked up.

Here I have Pool Party and I really like this color! When I first purchased it I thought it looked more fluorescent pink. But after several coats it became a neon reddish orange. None the less I still like it! Here a re a few swatches.

Have you tried Pool Party yet? If so how do you like it? I used 3 coats but somehow failed to capture the 3rd coat without top coat.

Today I have another "Untried". I've had this polish in my stash for sometime. I swatched it of course when I first bought it but never wore it.

It's such a pretty spring color! It's a coral color with some red and orange to it. It's also a "Jelly" polish as well. I'm wearing to thin coats. Regardless of its jelly formula it still is very pigmented. As you can see with two coats its not see thru or thin.

I decided to do an "IKat" design, which by the way is only my second attempt at this particular design. I'm still working at some of my designs. I used acrylic paint to do this design. I wanted something that would make this pretty coral color pop!

Here are swatches of this color before the design.

Somehow this manicure got lost. I posted on Instagram but forgot to do a post on it.

This is really an easy manicure. Also it's a manicure I did when my nails were a bit longer.

I used ColorClub polish in Edie(not sure). I used some bright acrylic paint with a small detail brush and made small stripe like designs. Which came out looking like flowers. My daughter said the design looked liked Birds of Paradise flowers. It was not intentional but I'll take that!

I'm playing catch up with my posts. It's been a hectic few weeks for me. I try and schedule post but sometimes I can only get one post up. But I'm improving. I really enjoy posting my nails and watching my growth.

The other day I had another nail to break! Actually two! Ugh! Can you believe it?! I decided to play around with untried polishes and I caught an acrylic paint sale at Michaels. Also they had a few brushes on sale as well. I only purchased one brush being I had a few in my stash already. I only bought one brush so I could perfect my one stroke technique.

Anywho so I decided to give my Zoya polish in Farah a try. The pic you see above is only one coat of this beautiful nude polish! Amazing! I decided to use a few spring colors to do my one stroke design.

I did this manicure on Sunday and today is Tuesday and no chipping! I think I may be on to something here. Usually when I do 2-3 coats of any polish, including Zoya I notice chipping with in a day or so. I normally use two base coats(OPI's nail envy and Essie's grow stronger). I used to use CND's Stickey base but figured I was applying maybe too many bases.

Also I believe that since I've had to chop my nails down once again this too may have helped with less chipping.

My attempt at one stroke design

I love this nude color with pops of spring brights! Let me know what you think!

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610312087905681304noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5127228659709984230.post-46476229268449922442014-04-11T21:58:00.001-04:002014-04-11T21:58:23.673-04:00Pastel Peach/Orange spring nails

I've been really into my pastel polishes lately. Pastel colors just say SPRING to me. Also I love a great peach colored polish.

This will be a quick post as I'm playing catch up. This mani was so easy to do and no nail art brushes were used or acrylic paint. So if you don't have those items don't worry, you don't need them.

I used Kleancolors pastel peach polish as a base and a white polish on. My accent nails as a base. For the accent nails I used different pastel colored polishes and just dropped little dots in different spots and in some over lapped dots for the design.

With the other nails with the pastel peach base I started with a white polish and made a cloud like design, then added another pastel green cloud like design on top of the white and then a pink cloud like design over the green. I then added top coat.

So easy and simple to do!

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610312087905681304noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5127228659709984230.post-19345230669859193392014-04-05T10:25:00.000-04:002014-04-05T10:25:00.516-04:00Nail care and growth.

So my nails grew out to a nice length that I loved. Well that was short lived as the other day I noticed they were feeling softer.

I began to make sure that I kept hardner on them. My go to for nail base and hardner is OPI's Nail Envy and Essie's Grow Stronger. I apply these faithfully every time I do my nails. To no avail I had a chip on each hand. I decided to chop them down to nubins and start over.

I still have some free edge to them and I'm pleased because at this length they are very strong. Also I know how to grow them out fast.

Being I take several measures to grow my nails quickly I decided to share a few of my secrets to growing nails quick.

Here are a few of my tips:

I give myself a manicure once a week.

I make my own cuticle oil(vitamin E oil and Castor oil).

I use hand cream and cuticle cream( various ones...the ones I like I've already blogged about).

When I apply my cuticle oils and creams I push my cuticles back as well.

Lately I've been using Nutra Nail 5-7 day growth.

If you are struggling to get your nails to grow I hope this helps some.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610312087905681304noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5127228659709984230.post-34874974181661570472014-04-04T10:39:00.001-04:002014-04-04T10:39:48.824-04:00Bright spring nails

I'm loving neons for spring! Also I've been experimenting with different designs for my lil nubins. I have a post coming up tomorrow on how I grow my nails fast! So be sure to look for that post tomorrow .

This manicure was a quick and easy one to do. It is very beginner friendly as well. I. Also trying out a new top coat by Glisten and Glow. I will try and have that review up with in the next few days.

I used Fresh Paint polish found at Five Below in Guava on all my nails. For the accent nail I used various cheap polishes also from Five Below and used somewhat of the drag method sort of in a swirl/flower design.

I really like Five Below polishes. They are made by the makers of Color Club polish. Color Club is one of my favorite brands so I was pleased to know this.

Here are the polishes that I used to get my design:

Fertility pure white, Glisten and Glow top coat, finger paints in Riot, fresh paint in winning and fresh paint in Guava.

My nails in daylight! So vibrant!

I'm thinking of adding another accent nail to this Mani. Let me know what you think of this easy and quick mani!

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16610312087905681304noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5127228659709984230.post-28348334074018673392014-03-18T07:00:00.000-04:002014-03-18T07:00:01.976-04:00Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow

Today I have a swatch of Sally Hansen's Xtreme wear nail lacquer in Mellow Yellow.

I think this may be one of the most pigmented yellow I've used so far. I'm only wearing two coats in the picture but with one coat you can definitely see the yellow.

Also I didn't use a base color like white to get the color to be vibrant. Usually with most yellow polish I have to add a base color to even begin to see the yellow or either I have to use several coats along with the yellow to see the yellow.

I think this is the perfect yellow for spring and summer. You will definitely be seeing this yellow in some up coming spring and summer nail designs.

I also used this yellow when I did my red and yellow lightning bolt nails. So the possibilities of this yellow with a few of my chevron nail vinyls! I can't wait!

The price of this polish varies from store to store. I believe I got this at Walmart and may have cost me $3-$4. But check around because sometimes certain drug stores may have this brand on sale.

Happy Shopping!

Happy Monday! It's snowing here in Maryland. I figured it was a good day to catch up on some post. I'm still trying to tweak my eating plan. It's a process in deed! Some days are good some are a struggle. I actually did some juicing last week and lost a few pounds! Yay! Ok on to the manicure.

I actually did this manicure on Friday for my weekend manicure. I'm still wearing it today! It lasted the whole weekend!

I love QRS and KleanColors polishes. The pigmentation is insane and very seldom do I get chipping with these polishes. For this mani I used "News of The Beloved"(QRS) and "Pastel Purple"(KleanColors). The "Pastel Purple" is the lighter of the two purples.

I used a dotting tool to create the contrast in colors. I also took the Pastel Purple(KleanColors) and painted half the nail on each accent finger and to diffuse the line used the darker purple(QRS) and made dots along the border of the two colors and went with the lighter purple in the missing areas. I also added the lighter purple on the darker side and vice versa.

When you are fresh out of design ideas but want a quick mani this is quick and easy.

Here are a few pics of the polishes I used.

I feel like I haven't had a post in a while. I've been back on my healthy lifestyle kick and I've been really trying to focus on that. Planning meals is not really hard work but making the effort to eat what you've planned is where it gets tricky! Anywho on to this spring Mani!

Sunday I took my grandmother out for her monthly shopping and we were in Family Dollar and of course I headed to the beauty isle. Low and behold sat these nail wraps by Fingrs! I had to have them! Animal print?! Yes in deed! I bought 2 packs because I'm positive I will have them in rotation with my mani's!

These how ever does not come with a file. Which is fine with me because I have plenty of files. But I will say in my excitement I was eager to try them out before I got home so at a red light I peeled and applied one in the car with no file and I just tugged on it and used another finger nail to get rid of the edges. Genius, I know! Ha! So with that being said, I would keep these in my purse in the future for a quick mani if I ever had a bad nail day, in need of a change of polish or an impromptu meeting or dinner date.

The stick-ness is pretty good. They applied very well and actually stayed for a day or two with no top coat! After day two, because my hands stay in water I could tell they were peeling. I took them off and they peeled right off. I'm sure had I applied top coat they would have never peeled. Being I just wanted to try them out I felt as though they lasted as expected. Today with this mani I applied top coat(schez vite). At first it looked as though the schez vite made them look like they were cracking but once the schez vite dried they smoothed right on out and I'm very pleased with the out come!

I can't wait to try out my other design I bought! The bright green polish is by Famous polish and the color is called Baby green. I didn't notice a name on the pack of nail wraps but the number is 226 which is in the top right corner of the pack.

If you haven't tried these nail wraps give them a try!
